Our Boot Camps are live, intensive, face-to-face courses that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you'll need to excel in a particular part of an upcoming exam. Each Boot Camp takes place over an 8-hour day and are held in a creative, themed space, to help the imagination and creativity flourish! They're intensive, yet well worth it.
- The morning involves our GCSE English tutors equipping students with the knowledge they'll need to cover the relevant part of the exam; learning the quotations, key passages and vocabulary that they'll need.
- The afternoon emphasises taking that knowledge and applying it to essay questions just as they would in the exam – paragraph structure, essay technique and the right language to use – the glue that holds a fantastic essay together.
These GCSE English revision courses in Basingstoke come with materials available afterwards so, even once the course is done, your child can keep learning and progressing.
Where to find the Boot Camps
Our Boot Camps for 2023 will run during the spring and summer half-term holidays and the Easter break. They take place in partnership with Absolutely Offices at their Grove House premises in Lychpit, Basingstoke. Grove House provides a dedicated conference space that has secure facilities and an on-site cafe which enables our learners to take part in a wide range of activities in a safe and comfortable space. Students will be welcomed at reception at the start of the day and will be directed to the learning space that will be used for Boot Camp activities.

What You Get
Intensive Teaching
Eight hours of intensive, fully immersive teaching, tasks and activities, that will equip you with the subject knowledge and exam technique you'll need to succeed. Each session is focused on just one particular exam component, so you'll be getting all the detail you need.
Small Classes
Typical classrooms are getting busier and busier these days. Each of our Boot Camp classes have a maximum of 16 students, so nobody gets swallowed by the bigger personalities and you get the attention you need over the course of the day.
Video Tutorials
The topics and contents of each lesson will be available for reference afterwards, as a video tutorial, where you'll be able to re-examine the specific exam requirements covered during the Boot Camp session.
Follow-Up Activities
Accompanying each Boot Camp will be a host of follow-up activities, hosted on our Moodle board, in which you'll be able to review the key parts of the day, including the important language and quotations you'll need to remember in the exam.
Practice
Through our online learning platform – Quizlet, you'll be able to practice what you've learned, using fun quizzes and games to help you learn in a way that's enjoyable, useful and that confirms the information in your mind.
Access
For three months after the course concludes, you'll have full access to the library of resources, practice materials and activities that you had on the course, so you can go through them in your own time and make the most of them.

What is a Boot Camp?
- Boot Camps are intensive courses designed for complete revision of one exam component in GCSE English.
- They take place over 8 hours in one day of input and practice activities which will boost exam success.
Where do the Boot Camps take place?
- We currently only offer our GCSE English Revision Courses in Basingstoke. More locations will be announced soon.
What safety measures are in place on the Boot Camps?
- The building has a reception area with a secure, pass-enabled door.
- There are fire and first aid measures in place with trained staff members on hand at all times.
- Our tutors are DBS checked and verified.
- Allergy forms are sent upon booking and must be fully completed and returned before enrollment can be completed.
- Allergy information will be acted upon, and any potential hazards will be removed from site.
- The learning environment is a shared space, so access to refrigerators is given at the participant’s own risk.
- The shared space will be used by other parties who are adults, but all activities will be supervised by a member of the team.
How many students are enrolled on a Boot Camp?
- A maximum of 16 students will be enrolled on each course.
What happens if the Boot Camp is cancelled?
- To provide an optimal learning experience, we need to have 8 students enrolled on a course. In the unlikely event that we do not have enough students enrolled on a course, you will receive a full refund and be given priority booking options on the next available course date.
Can I cancel my booking?
- Yes, you can cancel your booking up to 14 days before the course date and a full refund will be given but, after this time, no refunds can be made.
What facilities are available on site?
- There are purpose-built teaching facilities, break-out spaces, and a wide range of seating areas.
- Free tea, coffee and squash all day.
- Communal fridge and kitchenette – bringing your own lunch is recommended.
- However, there is a café on site open from 09:00 – 14:00 which has access from the secure building and the street.
